Good morning all up next the Geordies, they will be full of themselves so we are going to need to bring them down a peg or two. Stick Coufal on St Maximim and bob's your uncle

Moyes has to learn that going into games with Soucek in midfield and Ings, our 2nd striker as the lone striker, is like playing with 9 men.

Moyes can use the same shit tactics with a full side and it will make all the difference. If he goes with the Southampton team against Newcastle they will push us back in the shit...

I would love to see Cornet in for Soucek with Benrahma moving into the middle. Then us playing the ball on the floor.

No chance I know..

With same line-up, formation and tactics as against Soton then I expect nothing but an annihilation.

Newcastle should've done Man Utd by 5 or 6 at weekend as they pressed them like mad men. Our team do not respond well to the press and will break.

I am dreading this game.

Soucek either, fell over, passed into touch, ran as if through treacle, did no tackles, no passes, no shots, no headers yet remained on the pitch. Quite why it took 60 odd minutes to sub I have no idea. Oh, wait, yes I do David Fucking Moyes. He plays Ings as a lone striker. he isn't one, he plays off a central striker. He is completely incompetent.

We won yesterday but god was it dogshit of the highest order. There is no press, there is no pace, there is no reason he should still be our manager. Really not looking forward to the visit of the Geordie maggots at all.

I feel a bit sorry for Soucek. It's painful watching him play at the moment and he clearly needs dropping to rediscover the form he had.

11 completed passes from him yesterday.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Should play Cornet ahead of Benrahma
Scamacca ahead of Ings (if playing 4-3-3)
Downes or Lanzini ahead of Soucek
Coufal ahead of Kehrer

However he won't. We'll start with the same line up as yesterday with the possible exception of Antonio for Ings

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
onside - Agree with all that, or even Antonio instead of Ings, but I want to see what Cornet can do, we've waited 5 months for him to reappear and now he just sits on the bench. I'm absolutely sick to death of Moyes, it's beyond comprehension that he will still be here next season.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Exactly how I feel Manuel

On Scamacca... there was some Italian twitter account that posted a Scamacca showreel yesterday and although it shows a couple of goals for us, it also highlights the extent to which Moyes has fucked him up.

On Weds, in Isak we will see (imho) a very useful centre forward. I think Scamacca could have been equally good

Our subs are done by tombola, i am sure of it. There's no consistency or logic.

Cornet is a good example. You;d think after months out he'd want to work him back in, but no. Sub appearance, then (did he start a game or come on- can't remember) then just left on the bench. Same with the likes of Fornals, Scamacca, Lanzini, Downes whoever is sitting on the bench at the time. They seem to be flavour of the week and come on a few times in a row then forgotten about for weeks and so on it goes. Fucking weird.

I mean why did CRESSWELL come on yesterday? Emerson didn't look injured. There was no reason to take off one of our best players on the day- alongside Paqueta, another- but he did. Can only think the ultimate sin of trying to attack was committed once too often.

Surely the obvious change if anything was Cornet on for Benrahma for 10-15 mins and a bit of the old hoof and chase or counter attack out ball to relieve pressure. But no. He basically just brings on the most defensive players we have and goes deeper and deeper- AT HOME TO THE WORST TEAM IN THE DIVISION and comes the width of a crossbar away from fucking it up because we retreated so much and gave them all the play and territory.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
And as I said on the match thread yesterday, there was absolutely no sense whatsoever in waiting a couple of minutes between the Antonio and Downes subs.

It left us with 3 potential personnel changes but only one remaining opportunity to do it and there can simply be no logical reason for it .

If we'd suffered an injury we'd have been fucked

Why do some of you bother posting?

The negativity stinks this place out.

FFS we won yesterday, have a day off.

I thought that too. It was exceptionally stupid. You get three 'windows', right? Why then make two single changes within five mins of each other, thus using two instead of one? What a fucking waste. Smacks of not having any grasp of the rules or being so dysfunctional on the bench that they can't get two players ready at the same time.

onsideman 3:25 Mon Apr 3
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Exactly that El Scorchio. It was actually 2 minutes but recorded as 3 minutes on the stats because of the time it took for it to actually happen. As you say, it's as if none of our well-paid staff understand the implications

El Scorchio 3:38 Mon Apr 3
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle - Official Match Thread - Preview
Absolutely- and it was only TWO minutes? Absolutely appalling and inexcusable. No-one was injured as far as I was aware and the two players but have been getting ready individually to come on at the same time.

Either one wasn't ready (so you wait 2 mins and do both?!) the communication between our staff is so poor (wouldn't be a surprise from what's come to light) that they messed it up or that Moyes is just doing it on a total whim without thinking it through or having any foresight. We really cut down our options byt doign things that way. Then again it's so rare for him to make more than 1-2 subs anyway (again- completely out of touch with the modern way the game is played when all our opponents are changing 4-5 players in a game and actually using their squads properly) that it probably doesn't matter to him.

All three scenarios are inexcusable for a premier league club with the rules on subs as they are. It's little things like that which are just so worrying and a pointer to a total lack of a holistic strategy or mindset, or an understanding of how the game is played these days.
